NH Medicaid is changing in January 2019

Printer-friendly version

If you get health insurance through NH’s Medicaid expansion, you may have to follow new rules to keep your coverage. The new rules start on January 1, 2019.

What are the changes?

• Work: You may have to do 100 hours a month of work, school, job training, or community service to keep your benefits.

Will this affect me?

The new work rule may apply to you if:

• You are on Medicaid,

including Well Sense, NH Healthy Families, Anthem, Harvard Pilgrim (Elevate) and Ambetter ,

• you are age 19 to 64,

• you do not have Medicare or health insurance through your job, and

• you are not disabled according to Social Security or the State of New Hampshire.

But you may not have to follow the new rules even if you said “yes” to all of the above. To find out more about possible exemptions, go to Granite Advantage Healthcare Program.
