What we do
Legal Advice
After we interview you to find out about your legal problem, we give you legal advice over the telephone, and provide you with ongoing support to represent yourself. In some cases we advocate on behalf of clients with the adverse party (for example, with the landlord or the local welfare officer). We make referrals to private attorney volunteers through our Pro Bono Program. We refer many clients to other programs, as described below.
Referrals
We refer many cases to the New Hampshire Legal Assistance, the Law Clinics at University of New Hampshire School of Law, Disabilities Rights Center, State agencies and independent organizations. If you are not financially eligible for these services, we will refer you to the Lawyer Referral Service of the New Hamphsire Bar Association at 603-229-0002.
Legal Information and Self-Help Materials
We provide self-help guides and materials in many areas of the law, including areas in which we do not provide legal advice. Call 800-639-5290 for more information.
Busy phones
We receive hundreds of calls each day. If lines are busy, please keep trying. Your call is important to us. Because we spend as much time with each caller as is necessary, we cannot be available for every caller each day. You may be placed on hold for lengthy periods. We encourage you to use our online application as an alternative to calling in.
